There will an SOCIAL DISTANCE UnOfficial Start time for each course on SATURDAY October 31st.

OPPORTUNITY DRAWING:

If you would like to participate in our OPPORTUNITY DRAWING, we have some amazing prizes for you to win! Multiple Yeti Coolers, a Garmin watch, Theragun, Waterproof Speaker and more!

- You DO NOT have to participate in the race to buy tickets for the drawing!

- Prize winners are responsible for shipping costs from San Diego, Ca.

DONATIONS:

If you would like to support our club with some gas money, you can also donate here. Anything helps. It does take quite a bit to put this all together.

NOT-REALLY-A-RACE RULES:

- NO registration is needed to participate!

- All race participants, at any and all locations, are doing so on their own. There will be no official boat or event safety team on hand. We highly recommend doing any course with a small group and maintain visual contact at all times.

- Racers should have a PDF, a leash, and wear bright clothing.

- You must track your times and enter them into the form provided

- Virtual Racers should do a loop or triangular course with the same start and finish location. Please don't make a one-way, downwind course, if possible.

- FAQs -

What Kind of Boat or Board Can I Race With?

We have categories with OC1 + OC2 + V1 + SurfSki + SUP + Prone

Are There Team Options?

YES! All participants will race individually. However, if you would like to be a part of a team, all you have to do is enter your TEAM NAME with your individual results in the form (link) when you are done. We will average out all times for each "team". A team can be 2-12 people in any one type of boat of or board. Any age.

What is a "Self-Lead" Course?

For those who want to do the Actual course in San Diego, we will be leaving the buoys out from Saturday morning until Sunday evening. You do not have to take part in the "unofficial" race start time.

How do I turn in my virtual map and time if I'm racing somewhere else in the world?

Easy! If you have any GPS watch or device that can track your path and upload the screen shot or picture with your times in our Results Form. If you do not have a GPS device, you can draw a "My Map" on Google Maps or other browser to show your course (this is an honor system so please be as accurate as possible).

Can We Make Our Own Course?

Absolutely! You can participate from anywhere! We ask that you keep the same distance and keep the course a round trip similar to the actual course if possible.

It is Halloween. Can We Dress Up?

Yes please!! Be safe and smart with outfits, but we would love to see people have fun with this. Take pictures and post on social media. Tag our club and anyone else. This is a FUN event!

Where Do We Meet or Launch in Mission Bay?

Each race will have participants meet in the water. For social distance and safety, we are not designating any launch site or gathering place on land. Feel free to launch from anywhere. If you are going with a group, please follow state and county guidelines wherever you are.

- OUR FAMILY -

Be a part of one of the fasted growing water sports in the world! We welcome individuals of all experiences, abilities and ages to come out and experience Outrigger Canoe Racing.

Founded in 1983 by Ex-Navy Seal, Dee VanWinkle, our club has developed into one of the most prominent and diverse Outrigger Canoe Clubs in San Diego, with members originating from all around the world. Our team consists of men and women, from Olympic class athletes to the first-time paddler, but we all share the same love and passion for sport, family and fun.  Nothing beats the incredible California sun and surf with great people. SDOCC is always looking for fun, team-oriented people.

SDOCC is a member of the Southern California Outrigger Racing Association (SCORA) and as well as sending teams to compete in all SCORA races up and down the coast of California, SDOCC prides itself on having a strong representation in races in Hawaii as well as races over mainland America.  Outrigger Canoeing is rapidly becoming the most competitive water sport along the west coast, with 29 clubs in Southern California, Arizona and Nevada as well as 17 in Northern California, and since all divisions are available for both men and women, Outrigger Canoe racing is one of a few totally co-ed water sports available.
